SOLUTION

An interactive conference that introduces the SDG to students.

The Sustainable Development University Conference is a proposed event featuring speaker panels, workshops, networking events amongst other innovative continued learning techniques. With opportunities to teach, coordinate and network, industry professionals and pre-professionals are encouraged to participate in a unique personal and professional development experience.

GOALS

Package the SDG and Agenda into an interactive, memorable and digestible experience.

1. Educate students
Inform pre-professionals, ages 18-26, on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how they can incorporate these into their career

2. Professional Development
Offer continued learning and networking to current practitioners and researchers from diverse disciplines working for social good. “When one teaches, two learn”

3. Data Immersion
Bring the Sustainable Development Goals to life and off the paper in a memorable, easy-to-digest package

DATA VIZ

An exhibit that isn't confined to any one location.

Developing the augmented reality was a completely new skill for me. I began researching other types of AR exhibits and games. From here, I began iterating how I could interpret some of these various setups for our specific use: data presentation. Ultimately, I decided the most innovative way to utilize the AR  for our event was to implement it as part of the event marketing. A few factors I pulled from the sketches, were:

  • The idea of "anytime, anywhere"

    • The exhibit does not need to be locked to the venue

    • Can be triggered whenever user wants to

  • Walkable environment

    • An exploratory moment rather than static walls

AR TRIGGER

A flier that opens the exhibit.

Interested participants can scan their poster using the viewfinder tab on the app to open a virtual exhibit of the SDG. The viewfinder triggers an augmented reality containing immersive data from different SDGs.

VISUAL SYSTEM

An intriguing mix of young and professional.
